Digital portfolio requirements:
Applicants must submit a portfolio of 10-20 artworks. Images should be combined into a single pdf, and each image should include that artwork’s title, medium, dimensions, and year completed. Video or sound work can be submitted as links to mov, mp3, or mp4 files hosted on an external platform (i.e., Google Drive, Soundcloud). Include these links, if applicable, in the single pdf portfolio.
This portfolio should also include:
1. a brief artist statement of no more than three paragraphs that contextualizes the submitted artworks and addresses the applicant’s artistic interests, experiences or influences;
2. a brief description of how the applicant plans to incorporate studio art in their four years at the College (for example, plans to major, minor or otherwise participate in the department/curriculum);
3. anticipated career/life plans following graduation, as well as any additional information the applicant would like the committee to consider. Constance Stuart Larrabee Art Scholars are expected to actively participate in the co-curricular opportunities offered by Department of Art + Art History (i.e., visiting artist lectures, exhibition openings, etc.). Deadline to be considered for the Larrabee Scholarship in Art is March 3, 2025.
Incoming students who wish to be considered for the Larrabee Scholarship in Music should prepare five to ten minutes of solo literature in at least two contrasting styles. Selections can be chosen from classical music, jazz, musical theater, and popular music. We also welcome submissions of original music for students considering pathways in composition and music production. For priority consideration, applicants must submit a recorded audition by March 3, 2025. Recorded auditions should also include a table of contents (in .pdf, .doc, or .txt) that contains the following information for each piece: (1) composer/arranger/lyricist, and (2) title, movement, etc., and, if appropriate, (3) measure numbers. Constance Stuart Larrabee Music Scholars are expected to actively participate in the performance opportunities offered by the Department of Music. To remain eligible for the award, students should enroll in an appropriate 1-credit large ensemble (String Orchestra, Symphonic Band, or Chorus) and in applied music lessons (1-credit) every semester they are on campus. To support these lessons, Constance Stuart Larrabee Music Scholars are exempted from paying the $720 fee associated with 200-level applied music lessons.
